Description

A female torso with a length of drapery lifting away from one shoulder and rising clear above the head, standing on a tall block with a line of gold let into its face. Amber fills the body and the drape above it is colourless, so the two halves of the piece are read differently. A tall black marble block is supplied with a line of gold let into its face.

One Body Read as Two Things

Adding a drape to the same kind of body gives it a second silhouette, and the two are read at different distances. The drape is colourless and the body is not, so from across a room you see a warm figure and from close to you see a cold one wearing something that is barely there. The casting has to put the change from amber to colourless exactly at the shoulder, because a body warm below and empty above is read as two things and the join is what makes it one. Polished throughout, and the drape is polished on its inner face where very little of it is seen.

A hall, a landing or a wide bedroom, turned so the drape sweeps into the room. A pale ground. The drape is nearly transparent and will show whatever stands behind it. Light from behind fills the drape and leaves the body dark, which is the reverse of how it reads from the front. The drape is what catches the eye from the door and the amber body is what holds it once you are near.

Drawing the Drape Out, and Delivery

Lead times run 5–6 weeks bespoke and 3–4 standard. The amber is taken toward red, the drape is drawn further out, and the gold line is left off the block. Draw the drape further out and the block has to be widened, since the reach already sits outside the footprint. The block travels beside the torso in one crate, goes down first, and is levelled before anything is set on it. Two people, and the drape is not a handhold at any point. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
