Amber Split Peel Sphere Resin Sculpture, 65cm, glossy sphere with curled peel split at top, gold-to-brown gradient, on a plain white background.
Amber Split Peel Sphere Resin Sculpture - 65cm $7,36100
Description

A sphere of amber resin, smooth and glossy, whose skin splits open near the top and curls back in two thin, pointed peels, like a fruit being opened or a shell unfurling. The colour deepens from a light gold at the crown to a dark brown at the foot, and the curling peels show the thinness of the skin against the depth of the body.

A Sphere Opening Along a Split

The sphere is perfect and whole except in one place, and that one opening is the whole idea. The split runs across the crown and the skin curls back from it in two peels, thin enough to glow amber against the deeper body beneath. The contrast between the solid, heavy sphere and the fine, curling skin gives the piece its tension, and the eye goes straight to the opening. The colour is graded top to bottom, so the sphere looks lit from above, and the polish on its surface doubles every light in the room.

At 65cm it can be set on the floor beside a sofa or a chair, or on a low table, a console or a plinth, in a sitting room, a hall or an office. It is round, so it can be seen from any side, though the split reads best from the front. With a window behind, the amber glows; on a dark floor its brown foot deepens.

Colour, Split and Delivery

Count on the difference between standard and bespoke: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. The sphere can be made in green, blue, red or clear, and the split can be drawn longer or with a third peel. A clear sphere shows the split as a line of light, and a red one reads like a ripe fruit. The sphere can also be made at another diameter, for a table or for the floor. It comes in a padded crate, and being solid it needs two people to lift it into place. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A sphere whose skin splits and curls back belongs with our contemporary and modern sculptures; amber deepening from gold to brown leads to our resin sculptures, and a glowing ball for a sitting room floor joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
