Description

This dining chair pairs a single moulded shell of amber translucent resin with metal legs: a scooped seat runs up into a back that wraps forward at the shoulders, thin at the rim and deep where it turns. It sits on four slender tapering legs finished matt black. The amber goes treacle-dark at the shell's edges and opens to a clear honey across the middle of the back.

A Shell That Wraps Forward at the Shoulders

The shell is moulded as a single form and no joint shows between the seat and the back, and the amber is deepest where the material turns at the shoulders and clearest across the middle of the back. Holding the rim thin while the shoulder stays deep is the difficulty of the pour. The legs are made separately, finished matt black and set into the underside, so the two materials meet at a clean line rather than fading into one another, and the black is taken all the way to the floor with no ferrule.

At 85cm to the top of the back this will run in to a dining table and the shoulders stand above the table line, so several together read as a run of amber across a room. The black legs ground it against a pale floor, and the amber shell is worth putting where light can come through it rather than onto it.

The Legs, the Amber Depth, and Running It to a Table

Ordinarily a standard piece needs 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. Most of it is the wrapped shoulder. There are three open questions. The amber can be taken deeper or lightened, the legs are offered in another finish or in timber, and the shoulders can be wrapped further forward or opened out. Tell us the seat height and the back height. Both pieces of a pair share the depth of the amber at the shell edge when they are ordered together. Packing keeps the wrapped shoulders and the four leg feet off the crate walls, and it is a two-person carry. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
