Amber Rounded Mass Metal & Resin Sculpture - 107cm
Amber Rounded Mass Metal & Resin Sculpture - 107cm $4,52300
Description

A rounded mass of amber resin cradled in a cruciform frame of dark metal, the arms closing under its widest part and carrying it clear of the floor. Amber through the mass, turning bronze where it thickens, against the near-black of the frame. The metal frame comes with it as part of the object, and nothing else is supplied beneath.

A Frame That Holds Without Touching

A frame holding a mass without touching most of it is the part of this design that has to be got right, since what the eye reads is the gap between the two. The arms meet the mass at four points and nowhere else. Everything between those points is air, and that gap is what tells you the two are separate objects rather than one thing with a coloured top to it. A translucent mass held in an opaque frame means light settles which is which, since it passes through the one and stops dead at the other. The mass is polished all over and the metal is left dark and matt, so neither takes a highlight from the other.

It suits a hall or a corner where it can stand alone, since the frame reads as furniture at a distance. A plain wall behind it, pale, because the dark frame needs the contrast and the amber does not. Light from behind sets the whole mass alight and leaves the frame as a silhouette. From across a room it reads as one object; nearer, the frame separates from what it holds.

Another Metal, and a Two-Person Set-Down

Bespoke commissions take 5–6 weeks; standard pieces take 3–4. The frame can be finished in another metal, the amber can be exchanged, and the mass can be set at another height within the frame. Set the mass at another height and the frame is remade to it, since the arms have to close under the widest part or the mass has nothing to sit in. Frame and mass are one object and travel as one, in a crate built round the frame rather than round the casting. Two people. The frame goes down first and the mass is lowered into it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A dark cruciform frame holding an amber mass leads to our metal sculptures; the cast mass itself is one of our resin sculptures, and more to stand alone in a hall is in our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
