This side table carries an amber resin disc on a gold column. The top is a single thick disc of amber resin, domed slightly across the face and finished with a rounded lip that overhangs the column beneath it. The colour is not even across the face: it reads pale and almost yellow at the rim and deepens to a strong orange through the middle. Under it stands a plain metal cylinder, spun and finished in a warm gold that is brushed rather than mirrored, and the two parts meet with the resin sitting proud all the way round.
Two materials meet here and neither imitates the other. The resin disc is deep enough to read as a solid block rather than a sheet, and its colour is not even across the face: pale and almost yellow at the rim, a strong orange through the middle, with the change happening gradually rather than at a line. The upper surface is domed just enough to catch a single soft highlight, and the rounded lip below it runs true the whole way round and oversails the metal by a few millimetres. The column is a plain cylinder in a warm gold, brushed rather than mirrored, so it holds a fine directional grain and returns light as a broad sheen instead of a reflection. Nothing is painted on either part, and the two sit against each other without a visible fixing.
At 47cm it stands at sofa-arm height, which puts it in the gap beside a seat where a drink or a book needs somewhere to go. The amber wants light behind it or through it, so a position near a window pays for itself; against a dark wall the disc turns brown and stops reading. The gold column is warm rather than yellow, and it sits comfortably with brass fittings and with timber. It is heavy for its size because the disc is solid, so choose the spot before setting it down. For indoor use.
Work on a bespoke commission runs to 5–6 weeks, on a standard piece to 3–4. Three of its properties are yours to name. The disc is offered in other tints, the column can be finished in a cooler silver instead of the warm gold, and the height is cut to a figure you give us. What cannot change is the relationship between them, since the lip has to oversail the column for the piece to read the way it does. Top diameter and column height are quoted to your own figures. Order more than one together and the depth of the amber in the top is matched across them. Crated with the overhanging resin lip protected, it is a one-person lift. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Pieces that pair a cast body with worked metal sit together in our contemporary sculpture, the tables and seats are gathered under sculptural furniture, and the disc-and-drum geometry belongs with the geometric sculpture.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
