Amber Resin & Brushed Metal Plate Sculpture - 70cm
Amber Resin & Brushed Metal Plate Sculpture - 70cm $3,10500
Description

A rounded lens of honey-amber resin resting across the top edge of an upright brushed metal plate. The plate stands on its own foot, with a slim fin set at right angles along one side, and the lens, milky amber at its centre and clear at its edge, lies over both and runs out past the fin, where its rim deepens to orange.

A Honey Amber Lens Balanced on a Metal Edge

Here the metal is almost all of the object. The plate is broad and flat, brushed in one direction to a dark bronze tone, and the fin at its side is so slim that from the front it reads as a single drawn line beside the plate. The resin is the small, warm event at the top: a smooth pebble of milky amber, clear enough at its edge to glow, with the colour gathering into a deep orange where it overhangs. It lies on an edge rather than a flat top, so it looks placed rather than built in. No two lenses carry quite the same clouding.

Floor-standing, or raised on a broad plinth, it reads best against a plain wall where the plate has nothing competing with it and the lens catches side light. Put it at the turn of a stair, on a landing or at the far end of a corridor, somewhere it is approached face on, so the thin fin and the overhang of the lens are seen together. Keep busy shelving away from it: the plate is a quiet surface and needs a quiet ground.

The Lens Colour, the Plate Finish, and One Consignment

Reckon on 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke one. The lens can be poured in smoke grey or bottle green, or left uncoloured, in place of the honey amber, and its clouding can be kept faint. The plate can be brushed as described, finished to a plain satin or darkened with a patina, and it can be made to another height on request. Its companion, a banded amber cap on a cruciform column, is sold separately. Plate and lens are packed as a single consignment and assembled on arrival; one person places the lens and two lift the plate. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Brushed plate and poured amber meet again across our metal sculptures and our resin sculptures, and more pieces built from a few plain shapes are gathered in our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
