Amber Crystalline Faceted Mass Resin Sculpture - 52cm
Amber Crystalline Faceted Mass Resin Sculpture - 52cm $2,89900
Description

An amber mass faceted to a crystalline outline. The faces are set to no repeating angle, so no two approaches give the same outline, and the colour runs from gold at the head to a deep red at the foot. A slab of polished black marble below it comes with the piece and sets off the red at the foot.

Cut to Look Grown Rather Than Made

The whole object is an argument against regularity. A crystal that has actually grown has faces at angles that do not repeat and edges of different lengths, and any faceting drawn to a pattern reads immediately as cut glass instead. So the faces here are set to no system at all: the angles vary, the edges meet at three and four and five points, and the outline changes completely depending on which side is met. That is hard to do well because irregularity still has to balance. A mass faceted at random ends up heavy on one side and the piece looks damaged rather than grown. What keeps it upright is that the largest faces are all in the lower half, where the colour is deepest, so the visual weight sits under the finer cutting at the head even though the outline is doing something different on every side.

At 52cm this suits a console, a broad shelf or a table where it can be walked round, since no two sides of it are the same and a position against a wall halves the object. It is worth putting near a lamp rather than under a downlight: light entering the faces from the side reaches the far edges, which is what makes the deep red at the foot glow rather than go black.

The Faceting, the Colour, and Delivery

Making a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks, and making a bespoke one 5–6. The faceting is drawn coarser, the amber is deepened, and a frosted surface is offered in place of the polish. The faceting is also drawn coarser or finer, which changes the piece from something that reads as grown to something that reads as cut, and the casting is made at other heights on the same stone. A cooler body is offered and suits this one less than it suits the smoother forms, since a cool tone removes the association with amber that the irregular cutting sets up. A single crate takes both, with the casting seated on a broad lower face rather than on its point. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A crystalline outline is contemporary sculpture; amber graded to red is resin sculpture; and faceting this fine is indoor sculpture work.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
