Amber Crimped Edge Resin & Steel Dining Table - 180cm
Amber Crimped Edge Resin & Steel Dining Table - 180cm $11,40700
Description

In this cast resin and steel dining table the top is an oval slab of amber resin. Its outer edge is left crimped and ruffled all the way round, a band perhaps a hand's width deep, while the centre is polished smooth and level and reads almost as a separate inset plate. Colour runs through the slab in streaks and clouds rather than evenly, dark along the crimped band and clearer across the middle. Below it a polished stainless steel column drops to a wide shallow disc, mirror-bright, and the steel is the only part of the table that is not translucent.

A Crimped Edge Around a Smooth Centre

The top does two opposite things and the boundary between them is deliberate. Its outer band is left crimped and ruffled the whole way round, roughly a hand's width deep, irregular in outline and thick in section. Inside that, the centre is polished flat and level, clear enough to read as an inset plate. Colour follows the same division: streaks and clouds gather in the crimped band and thin out across the middle. Under it the steel is a complete change of register, polished to a mirror, geometrically exact, a plain column into a wide shallow disc. It is the only opaque element and it makes no attempt to belong to the top.

It needs the clearance a dining table needs on all four sides. The single column and disc mean chairs can sit anywhere round it with no leg in the way, which is the practical argument for this base. The crimped edge stands proud and should be clear of a wall. Steel and amber suit a room with warm timber in it. It is very heavy and arrives in two parts. Inside only.

The Slab, the Steel, and the Wait

Standard pieces take 3–4 weeks and bespoke commissions 5–6. The crimped edge sets the pace here. Three choices are open. The slab is offered in other tints, the crimped band can be run deeper or held shallower, and the base is available in a brushed steel or a dark bronze instead of mirror polish. The top can also be supplied round. Overall length and top thickness are settled at order. Ask for several together if the amber figure across the top needs to agree between them. The crimped outer edge of the slab is what the crate is built around, and four people should carry it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A mirror-polished column and disc relate this table to our stainless steel sculptures; under a dining room light it belongs to our art furniture, and the crimped amber rim suits our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
