Amber & Blue Faceted Disc Acrylic Sculpture - 40cm by Giant Sculptures, multicoloured geometric acrylic disc with amber, teal, blue, lime, and magenta facets, on a plain white background.
Amber & Blue Faceted Disc Acrylic Sculpture - 40cm $2,17900
Description

This acrylic sculpture is a disc rather than a block, cut flat, so it is two large faces with a rim of small planes running all the way round between them. It leans back on that rim. The centre of the face holds amber against a dark wall and clears to a pale teal against a light one, blue gathers through the bottom quarter, and the rim returns lime across the crown, magenta and red down one side and amber and yellow down the other, where the small planes catch the light at their own angles.

A Disc Is Read Through Its Thickness

A disc is read through its THICKNESS, and that is what sets it apart from a block. Look at a block and you see one face at a time; look at a disc square on and you are looking through the whole of it, front face and back face together, so whatever stands behind it becomes part of the colour. Against a dark wall the film at the centre returns amber; against a pale one the same face clears and turns cool, and the piece changes with the room it is in. The rim's own small planes are angled to return a different hue altogether, so the edge holds as a line whatever the centre is doing. The lean is there for the same reason - upright, a disc shows its thinnest dimension to the room.

At 40cm this is shelf, desk and cabinet-top work and it has a definite front: seen from the side it is a narrow leaf. So it wants a position facing into the room - a shelf, a mantel, a windowsill, or a console against a wall - rather than one it is passed sideways. What stands behind it decides its centre: a dark wall brings the amber up, while a light behind it turns the centre pale and cool and picks the rim out as a bright outline. A light in front returns the two flat faces and very little of the depth that is the point of it.

Flat Area, Film and Delivery

Work on a bespoke commission runs to 5–6 weeks, on a standard piece to 3–4. The two large faces pace this build, because flat area is what takes the time to bring up and a disc is mostly flat area. The diameter, the thickness and the lean are drawn per commission, so a version standing upright, one cut much thicker, or one leaned further back are all from this design. The film is chosen with the order between this amber and blue, a magenta-to-gold and a green-to-cyan, and the rim can be left unfilmed so the outline reads clear. It is stood on its rim and leaned back where it is to go, held by its two faces and never by the small planes of the rim. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A disc leaned back on its rim, its centre turning from amber to pale teal with the wall behind it, is catalogued in our geometric sculptures, our acrylic sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
