The Life-Size Contemporary Fragmentary Traveller Bronze Sculpture stands at a commanding 210cm, presenting a walking male figure rendered in striking polychrome bronze: shirt, jeans, shoes, and suitcase meticulously painted to simulate real clothing, while the torso is deliberately absent, leaving a dramatic void between the lower body and the floating head and shoulders above.
Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, this sculpture is finished by hand to an exceptional level of surface detail. The polychrome painted bronze finish layers cream white across the shirt, denim blue across the trousers, and warm tan across the suitcase and shoes, while the head and hands retain a natural raw bronze patina. The result is a surface that reads simultaneously as painting, sculpture, and theatrical object. The intentional missing torso is not damage but design: a signature fragmentary technique that transforms a figurative work into a meditation on absence, identity, and movement.
At 210cm and 260kg, this is a monumental presence suited to grand interiors and open outdoor settings alike. It suits contemporary architecture, wide entrance halls, corporate atriums, hotel lobbies, and urban plazas. The polychrome palette anchors it against neutral walls or open sky. Its scale demands space, and rewards it generously.
The polychrome finish can be adapted to alternative colour schemes, or the piece can be produced in a traditional all-bronze or verdigris patina for a more classical reading. Larger monumental versions are available for permanent public or commercial installation. This work is inspired by the fragmentary figurative tradition of artists such as Bruno Catalano.
