The Life-Size Contemporary Children on Seesaw Bronze Sculpture stands 250cm tall and spans the full length of a working seesaw composition, capturing three child figures mid-play with an immediacy and warmth rarely achieved in large-scale bronze. Two life-size children occupy opposite ends of the beam; one stands upright gripping the handlebar, board elevated beneath their feet, while the other sits at the lower end cradling a smaller figure in their lap.
Every element of this piece, from the tapered central fulcrum and bolted footplate to the textured surfaces of each child figure, is cast in solid lost-wax bronze and hand-finished by skilled artisans. The surface carries a rich dark brown to near-black patina applied by hand, producing the naturalistic aged character that defines gallery-grade bronze sculpture. The finish is consistent across the beam, pivot support, and all three figures, giving the composition a unified, considered presence rather than the mechanical uniformity of production casting.
At 600kg and 250cm in height, this is a statement installation piece suited to formal gardens, landscaped estates, public plazas, institutional courtyards, and large commercial outdoor spaces. The dark patina reads well against stone paving, gravel, lawn, and rendered wall backdrops alike. The integral bronze fulcrum functions as both structural support and base, requiring no separate plinth, and the bolted footplate allows for secure ground anchoring on a prepared surface.
We are happy to discuss custom patina options ranging from traditional verde antique and mid-brown to the dark near-black finish shown here. Scale variations are also possible, and for installations with specific siting requirements the composition can be adapted as a bespoke commission. If you would like to discuss a custom version, please contact us before ordering. This piece was developed with reference to the rich tradition of figurative playground sculpture and can be further tailored for permanent public or private installation.
