The Life-Size Classical Recumbent Lion Bronze Sculpture spans 140cm in length, presenting a fully realised lion at natural scale, lying with composed authority, head raised, front paws extended, and a richly sculpted mane framing every detail of the face.
Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, this life-size bronze lion sculpture is hand-finished to achieve a warm reddish-brown patina with lighter highlights drawn out across the raised strands of the mane, the brow, and the paws. The surface depth is not applied uniformly; each strand of the mane, each claw, and the subtle planes of the facial structure are individually worked so the patina reads as something earned rather than decorative. The amber-toned eyes are defined with precision, lending the piece a focused, watchful expression that holds across distances. The tail curls naturally around the body flank, and the integrated rectangular bronze base sits flush and low, completing the casting as a unified form rather than an afterthought.
This recumbent lion bronze statue carries equal conviction indoors and outdoors. Placed at the foot of a stone staircase, flanking a formal entrance, or positioned within a large interior hall, it commands space without demanding it. The warm bronze palette works against pale limestone floors, dark hardwood panelling, aged brick, and clipped formal hedgerow alike. At 900kg, the piece settles with genuine permanence wherever it is placed.
The patina can be adjusted toward a darker antique black-brown, a traditional verdigris green, or a polished natural bronze on request. The sculpture can also be produced at a reduced scale for interior settings with lower ceiling heights, or as a mirrored pair for symmetrical placement at a gatehouse or entrance portico. If you are considering a commission inspired by the work of a specific artist, or require a bespoke base configuration, contact us before ordering so we can confirm scope and timeline.
