The Life-Size Boy Reading on Bench Bronze Sculpture stands 150cm tall and captures a young boy absorbed in an open book, seated on an integral park bench with one arm resting along its back and his ankles loosely crossed. The composition is unhurried and quietly observational, reading as a moment rather than a monument.
Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, this life-size bronze boy sculpture is hand-finished to achieve a richly layered patina: heavy green verdigris settles across the upper body, hat, and shoulders, while warmer brown-bronze tones ground the lower half and shoes. The result is a surface that reads as genuinely aged, suited to settings that reward close inspection. The bench is cast to replicate the texture of slatted timber, reinforcing the naturalism of the piece without resorting to mixed materials.
At 150cm and 100kg, this large figurative bronze statue holds its presence confidently in open gardens, courtyards, public green spaces, and generous interior settings such as entrance halls, libraries, or reading rooms. The dual-tone patina sits well against pale stone, dark slate, brick, and mature planting. It requires a stable, level surface to bear the weight safely.
The patina can be adjusted to a uniform warm brown, a darker museum black-bronze, or a more pronounced full verdigris finish. Scale variations are available on request. We can also develop fully bespoke commissions, including changes to posture, accessories, or facial detailing, inspired by the work of figurative sculptors who have explored childhood subjects in bronze. Contact us before ordering to discuss any customisation.
