The Monumental Classical Mermaid Bronze Sculpture stands at an imposing 400cm, commanding immediate attention with its upright figurative presence and outstretched arms balancing a horizontal staff across the shoulders. The fish tail tapers with precision to the base, every scale rendered in deliberate, unhurried detail.
This piece is cast using the lost-wax method, a technique that preserves the sculptor's finest surface work through each stage of production. The result is a dark bronze patina deepened by green verdigris oxidation across the torso and tail scales, replicating the weathered character of coastal installation bronzes that have aged over decades. The scale texturing on the lower body is particularly resolved, catching light differently at each hour and reinforcing the sense of organic form beneath the bronze skin. This is large-scale figurative bronze at its most considered.
At 400cm, this sculpture suits open civic and commercial environments: hotel courtyards, seafront promenades, resort lobbies with double-height ceilings, private estate water features, and cultural institution forecourts. The dark bronze and verdigris palette reads well against pale stone, whitewashed render, grey slate, and coastal landscape planting. The piece is fully suited to permanent outdoor installation and is equally at home in a dramatic interior setting where scale allows.
The patina is fully customisable: the standard finish is a dark bronze with verdigris accents, but we also offer warm brown, black, and polished highlight finishes to suit your setting. The sculpture can be scaled up or down to meet specific site requirements, and we welcome fully bespoke commissions inspired by the work of classical figurative sculptors working in the mythological tradition. Contact us before ordering to confirm scale, patina, and installation specifications.
