Description

Inside Appears Outside Bear Sculpture towers at 165 cm, its broad resin frame turning stage memories into living colour. Hand-painted by Jirayu Tantrakul in his Bangkok studio, every deliberate stroke converts dialogue from the plays and films that shaped his acting career into roaming marks you can trace across the bear’s silhouette. Swathes of olive green and deep black anchor the figure, while burnt orange, sun-yellow, coral pink, and bone white leap forward like lines spoken under hot lights. Flames lick the rounded head, jagged stripes slice the torso, and drifting pools of colour soften the paws, so the surface reads first as bold camouflage and then, on closer look, as an intimate diary you can circle and read in silence.

A 165 cm Canvas Of Living Memories

Circle the bear and the narrative shifts with every step. Glossy resin catches light, letting the palette slide from forest dusk to sunset blaze, as if the story is still unfolding. The stamped “21” on one leg hints at a private milestone, anchoring memories amid the swirl of marks. Swirling flames echo tension, playful droplets recall lighter scenes, and broad plains of black act as pauses between acts, inviting the eye to rest before the next reveal. Though its size commands a room, the rounded ears and generous stance feel welcoming, turning any interior into a quiet theatre where identity fractures and recombines. The piece asks a simple question, how many selves can live inside one form, and then answers it in colour, texture, and light.

Two large, black bear-shaped sculptures stand indoors near a window with a view of a yard. One sculpture is in the foreground with its back to the viewer, and the other faces forward, creating a mirrored effect. Trees and a chair are visible outside.
A shiny metallic bear sculpture stands on the corner of a modern buildings patio, mirrored by another similar black figure in the foreground. The area features minimalistic architecture with large glass windows.
