The summit is rounded and the shoulders step down on either side to a broad foot, and the whole surface is worked into ridges, gullies and rough faces like weathered rock. It is only a hand's width deep, so it stands like a slice of a mountain, and the yellow deepens where the rock folds.

A Single Peak in Pale Yellow

A mountain this size has to be read in one look, so the form is simplified to one summit and two shoulders and all the detail goes into the surface. The ridges run down from the summit the way water would cut them, and the faces between are left rough so that they catch the light unevenly, as rock does. The pale yellow makes it warmer than a clear peak: it reads as sunlit stone, or as a mountain at the end of the day, and the colour gathers in the gullies.

It suits a desk, a shelf, a side table or a coffee table, or a console as part of a group, and it is slim enough for a narrow surface. Place it where light comes from one side, a window or a lamp, so the ridges throw shadows and the yellow glows. Against a dark background it looks like a lit peak. From a distance it is a clean silhouette; close to, the worked rock surface holds the eye.

Yellow or Colourless, and Delivery

Give it 3–4 weeks as a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks as a bespoke commission. It is made in this pale yellow or as a colourless peak, clear through, and it can be tinted another colour, a blue, a green or a smoky grey; several peaks can be ordered in different tints to stand together. The colourless version reads as ice rather than as stone. It is sent in a small padded box, ready to unpack and put straight on its surface. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A pale yellow peak worked like weathered rock belongs with our resin sculptures; a single sunlit summit places it in our contemporary and modern sculptures, and a slice of mountain for a narrow surface suits our indoor sculptures.

Specification

Height

29cm

Width

47cm

Depth

15cm

Material

Yellow-Tinted Cast Resin
