In a yellow this bright the change of thickness becomes the drawing: the thin faces of the scoops glow almost white-gold, while the rims and the stem gather the deeper honey tone. Every surface is polished, inside the hollows as well as out, so light entering one scoop is carried round through the resin and out of the other. The block beneath is cut square and left plain, so nothing competes with the colour above it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eStanding 66cm with its marble, it fits a deep sideboard or the end of a long dresser, where it can be seen from in front and from a little to either side. Yellow amber warms a cool grey or white room, and it is at its brightest with daylight or a lamp behind it, which fills the hollows. The yellow can be taken toward a pale lemon or deepened to a full honey, and the scoops cut further round for a deeper turn, which brings more light into the middle of the ball. A block in another stone, or a deeper block to lift the ball, is made to order. The ball travels in its own fitted case with the marble packed beside it, and it is lifted with two hands around its outer curve, never by the opening.
