The fan is ribbed from a round hole at its centre out to a wavy, scalloped rim, and the frame beneath follows its curve, its inner edge brushed with a gold tone. Three polished gold-toned studs hold the fan, one at each tip of the arc and one at its foot, and a fourth is set on the outer curve close to the base.

A Frosted Fan in a Gold-Edged Crescent

The frosting is what makes the fan: it turns the ribs into soft lines of light and shade instead of hard reflections, and the round hole at the centre, left clear of ribs, becomes the point the whole pattern radiates from. The frame is a counterweight in every sense, dark where the fan is pale and solid where it is fine, and the gold tone along its inner edge and on the studs ties the two together. The wavy rim keeps the top of the fan from looking cut.

It stands on a desk, a shelf or a console, turned square to the room so the fan is met face on. Seen against a dark wall the frosted fan glows; against a pale one the black frame draws the outline. Light from above or one side brings out the ribs. It suits a study, an office or a living room with other black and gold pieces.

Frame Finish, Fan Colour and Delivery

Once ordered, a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke one 5–6. The frame can be finished all black, wholly gold-toned or bronze-toned, and the fan can be made clear, tinted or frosted in a colour. A clear fan shows the ribs as lines of light and makes the frame the stronger element. The studs can be finished to match the frame or left gold-toned as a contrast. It comes in one padded carton and is lifted out by the frame, never by the fan or its studs. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A frosted fan held in a black crescent edged in a gold tone joins our resin sculptures, our metal sculptures and our abstract sculptures.

Specification

Height

49cm

Width

62.5cm

Depth

10cm

Material

Frosted Cast Resin in a Black and Gold-Toned Metal Frame
