The edges of the form stay clear where the frost thins, so the outline carries a faint bright line. It stands on a black marble block that is supplied with it.

White Frost With Rust at the Hip

Frosting a figure this tall turns it into a pale, solid presence instead of a transparent one, and the rust at the hip gives that pale body a single point of warmth. The tint is placed where the body turns, so it marks the movement of the figure rather than decorating it. The frost is even over the flare and the skirt, and the clear edges are left where the form is thin, which keeps the outline crisp. Each casting places the rust a little differently.

A console, a plinth or a corner of a large room will suit it, anywhere its side view counts as much as its front. A mid-toned or dark wall suits it; white against white loses the figure. Soft side light shows the rust at the hip and the clear edges, and a hard overhead light flattens the frost.

Warmer or Cooler, and Two to Carry

Time separates the two: a bespoke commission takes 5–6 weeks, a standard piece 3–4. The rust can be warmed towards amber or cooled towards grey, or left out for a figure in white alone. Black or white marble can go beneath it, the frost can give way to a clear polish, and the top can be made to flare wider. The blue and white version is sold as its own piece. It travels in one crate; at this height it takes two people to set down, both lifting at the stone. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Pale, frosted figures of this kind are collected in our contemporary and modern sculptures, and further tall pieces appear among our indoor sculptures and our resin sculptures.

Specification

Height

103cm

Width

41cm

Depth

30cm

Base

25 x 20 x 6cm

Material

Frosted Cast Resin in White and Clear on Black Marble
