The skirt streams out behind the figure and flares where it meets the base, and the upper body opens into a broad, blown-back flare. The violet is a soft plum smoke, heavy in the skirt, fading through the waist and gone by the shoulders. A black marble block comes with it.

Plum Smoke Clearing to Colourless

Violet is an unusual colour for a figure, and grading it means it never becomes heavy: the plum smoke is rich only in the gathered folds of the skirt, and above that it clears through lilac to colourless. It looks like a figure rising out of evening shadow, and the edge of the violet falls a little differently on every piece. Every surface is polished, which keeps the violet glowing rather than dull, even in a dim corner. Seen from the side, the violet drifts back with the skirt like a trail of smoke.

A dresser, a console or a deep shelf in a bedroom or a living room, where the colour can be seen up close. Grey, white and soft pink walls flatter it, and it looks lovely with silver, velvet and fresh flowers. A lamp to one side deepens the violet, and daylight shows how it clears towards the top. It reads from across a room as a dark foot and a bright crown.

Deeper Violet, Another Hue, and Delivery

Ordinarily a standard piece needs 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The violet can be deepened to aubergine or lightened to lilac, and the smoke can reach nearer the shoulders or sink back to the hem. The black block can be swapped for one in white marble. The figure is also made grading amber to clear and black to clear, and in an even aqua blue, all as separate pieces. It is delivered ready to display in one crate with its block, and a single person can place it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Violet smoke clearing to a colourless flare counts among the softer colours of our resin sculptures; the blown-back figure itself belongs with our contemporary and modern sculptures, and further figures for a living room sit in our indoor sculptures.

Specification

Height

71cm

Width

25cm

Depth

18cm

Base

25 x 20 x 6cm

Material

Cast Resin Graded Violet to Clear on Black Marble
