That keeps the loop light at the crossing and gives the piece a weight it would not have if the colour ran evenly. Streaks rather than a flat tint let the violet read as movement, and no two castings lay those streaks the same way. Every surface carries a full polish, so the clear parts stay bright around the colour.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt suits a study shelf or a writing desk at eye level, where the open centre can be looked through. A pale wall behind it keeps the violet from sinking; against dark paint the clear arms almost vanish and only the colour remains. Daylight from one side draws a bright line along both arms, and the violet deepens where the light is weakest.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eOther Tints, a Paler Stone, and the Crate\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eA standard piece takes 3–4 weeks to make, and a bespoke commission 5–6. The violet can be carried further up the arm or kept low, and another colour can take its place in the same position. The black block can be exchanged for a pale stone, and the crossing can be opened or closed a little before casting. One crate carries loop and block together; one person lifts it out, a hand beneath the lowest curve. The streaks can be laid heavier for a darker loop or lighter for a paler one.
