Four openings go right through the ribbon, two of them high up beside each other, one a slot and the last a tilted oval low down. Its foot sits on black marble, supplied as part of the piece.

Teal Swirled Through a Standing Ribbon

Teal on a clear ribbon behaves like sea over sand: where the resin is coloured it reads deep and cool, and where the clear passages break through it the light shows pale beneath. The swirl is never the same twice, so the passages fall differently on every casting, but the teal always gathers at the outer edges and the rims of the openings, which keeps the outline sharp from across a room. Each opening is polished through, so its inner wall is as bright as the faces.

In a cool, bright room a long console takes it well, its 83cm bringing the top openings up to eye height. Teal reads best against white or pale grey; against strong colour it loses its depth. Side light picks out the clear passages; light from behind turns the whole ribbon a single glowing teal.

Teal, Clear Passages, and Delivery

Delivery follows a 3–4 week build as standard, or a 5–6 week build if bespoke. The teal can go darker toward petrol, paler to aqua, or be kept clear of swirl for an even colour throughout. More or fewer clear passages can be asked for, and the openings can be cut wider for a lighter piece. A paler stone can be used for the base. It is crated in a foam shell made to the ribbon's outline, with the marble boxed apart, and the stem is the place to hold it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A teal ribbon swirled with clear passages belongs with our abstract sculptures; colour gathered at the rims of its openings joins it to our organic sculptures, and sea-like teal moving through clear resin is one for our resin sculptures.

Specification

Height

77cm

Width

41cm

Depth

20cm

Base

25 x 20 x 6cm

Material

Teal Cast Resin with Black Marble Base
