The teal cylinder at the foot is the base and nothing else comes with it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eColour at Both Ends and None Between\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eWidth instead of height changes what a stack is for, and bookending a colourless span with colour is what stops it reading as one long interruption. Reading along a piece rather than up it changes what has to be controlled: the bar has to hold its section over its whole length or it sags visibly against the two masses at its ends, and it is the only element here with nothing underneath it. Teal in a clear body is dark enough to read as a shape and open enough to see the far side through, so the top block and the foot hold the composition together across a colourless gap. Polished everywhere, with the cylinder at the foot turned true so it sits flat.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA sideboard or a long shelf, where width is available and height is not needed. A plain ground of any tone. This one is more forgiving than its siblings because the colourless bar does the separating. Light along its length makes the bar glow between the two teal masses, which is the effect the arrangement is built for. It reads as three things from across a room and as one from close to, which is the opposite of most pieces here.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eTinting the Bar, and Delivery\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eSet aside 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The bar can be tinted, the cylinder can be squared off, and the whole arrangement can be made at a greater height. Add a tint to the bar and the piece becomes one colour interrupted rather than two masses joined. One crate, packed flat, with the bar supported along its whole length. One person, though two makes it easier because of the span. Support the bar, not the ends.
