smoky-tinted-gold-flake-fan-rock-resin-sculpture-56cm
Smoky Tinted Gold Flake Fan Rock Resin Sculpture - 56cm

Description

Cast in a resin with a faint smoky, tea-coloured tint, this rock fans out above a slim stem into a wide and uneven crown. A rounded nose pushes out from its left flank, the top edge rises past a low step to its highest point a little beyond the middle, and the opposite flank bulges into a broad lobe. Its faces are smooth and glassy rather than textured, crossed by a network of fine dark hairlines, and wherever the resin runs thick, along the edges especially, the tint gathers into a grey-brown smokiness. Golden flakes float within it.

Golden Flakes in a Smoke-Tinted Body

The tint is light enough for the resin to remain see-through, yet it warms everything seen behind it, much as smoky quartz does, and it deepens to a soft grey-brown towards the margins. The hairlines run in long, branching strokes like cracks in thick lake ice, dark against the pale body. Each flake is flat and golden-yellow, crinkled at its edges like foil and flecked with tiny dark specks; at the centre two pointed ones meet in a V, while single flakes lie high on the crown and out towards each side. No two of these rocks hold their flakes or their hairlines in quite the same places.

The warm tint sits naturally with walnut, leather, bronze and deep-coloured walls, so it suits a study, a library sideboard or a credenza in a panelled room. Set it where daylight falls across the polished faces, which brings up the gold and shows the hairlines, and keep a pale wall behind it so the smoky edges read. Give it clear space all round. Indoor use only.

Tint Depth, Flake Choice and Delivery

Ours is a 3–4 week build as standard, and a 5–6 week build when the commission is bespoke. The tint can be taken deeper, towards a dark smoke, or brought nearly back to clear, and the golden flakes can be added to, thinned to a few or left out. It can be cast at another size to order. Each order is for a single rock, sold by itself. The rock is wrapped and crated for the journey, and it is best carried under its slim stem and body, never by the nose or the lobe. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Crazed with dark hairlines beneath a faint tea-coloured tint, this golden-flecked fan joins our resin sculptures, our abstract sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Specification

Height

55cm

Width

56cm

Depth

16cm

Material

Imported Resin with a Smoky Tint and Golden Flakes
