There is no frame, no bracket, no visible fixing and no third element: a sheet on two uprights, all of it glass. The uprights are a translucent smoked grey, so the floor and the wall behind them stay visible, darkened by a stop, while the top holds a deep near-black that reflects the room across its surface. Where an upright meets the floor its angled edge shows as a slanting line. Both uprights are set in from the ends of the top, so the sheet overhangs at both sides and reads as floating.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt stands at desk height and suits a hall, a window wall or a study. The square plan makes it equally good seen from any side, which matters because there is no back to this table. It needs light behind or beside it to bring out the grey of the uprights; against a dark wall in flat light they all but disappear, which may be the point in a small hall. It wants a level hard floor, since the uprights sit on their own edges. None of it is cast. First comes the glass itself, in this smoked grey or in bronze, green or an untinted clear. The second is the plan, from this square through to a long narrow console, which changes the object completely. And the third is the spacing of the two uprights, which decides how much overhang the top carries and therefore how heavy or how floating the table reads. Top size, leg spacing and height are each specified. The top and the two uprights travel separately in one crate, and two people are needed to assemble them.
