smoked-grey-rolled-tube-cast-resin-armchair-83cm
Smoked Grey Rolled Tube Cast Resin Armchair - 83cm

Description

This lounge chair is cast in a smoked grey resin, clear enough to see one arm of the loop through the other. One fat tube makes the chair's back and its two arms: it climbs from the front on the left, sweeps round behind the seat and returns to the front on the right, and each end stops in a flat round face that looks almost black where the resin is deepest. Beneath it a shallow dome forms the seat, and four cylinder legs, clearer and paler than the loop, stand at its corners.

A Smoked Grey Loop on Clear Grey Legs

Colour does most of the work here. Where the resin is thin, at the edges of the legs and across the seat, it is a pale silvery grey; where the loop is thickest it deepens to charcoal, and the two end faces, which look straight down the length of the tube, read nearly black. That range from silver to near black gives the chair a strong outline from across a room, while up close the seat and legs stay glassy and quiet. The loop keeps one diameter all the way round and the ends are cut off square to its curve, so each one shows as a clean dark disc.

It belongs in a sitting room, a hotel lobby or a broad landing, angled so the two dark end faces are seen from the front. Grey sits easily with stone, linen, oak and black metal, so it settles into a neutral scheme without asking for attention. A cushion can be added but is not needed, and its four round feet sit best on boards, stone or a dense rug. Indoors only.

Grey Depth, Leg Clarity and Delivery

Reckon on 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke one. The depth of the grey is chosen at order, from a light smoke that keeps the whole chair glassy to a dense charcoal close to black, and the legs can match the loop or stay paler as here. The tube can be cast slimmer or fuller, and every main measurement can be altered at order. Each chair is crated separately, and one person can manage it alone. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Cast in smoked grey resin, this rolled armchair takes a seat among our art furniture, a place with our resin sculptures, and, for its swelling curves, a spot in our organic sculptures.

Specification

Height

72cm

Width

83cm

Depth

63cm

Material

Translucent Cast Resin
