The colour does the modelling: pale lemon yellow fills each hollow, the rose pink of the shell wraps round it, and an amber-brown edge is drawn where the two meet, so each hollow reads as a lit bowl inside a darker rim. Keeping the stem narrow is deliberate: it makes the lobes appear to lift away from the block rather than sit on it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eGive it a console or a sideboard and let the hollows be seen slightly from above, which is where they read best. A dark wall makes the rose pink glow; a pale one keeps it softer. Light from behind fills the hollows. At a distance it reads as a pair of opened hands, and the lemon yellow in the hollows is the detail that waits for a closer look.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eTints, Rims and a Compact Crate\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eBuild times separate standard from bespoke: 3–4 weeks against 5–6. There are three things to decide. The lobes can be opened wider or drawn closer together, the rims can be left heavier or thinned, and the shell can be tinted in another colour, such as a blue or a deeper red-orange, with the hollows kept yellow or left clear. Open the lobes wider and the stem is made stouter to carry them. It ships in a compact crate with block and form packed together, and it is lifted with both hands beneath the belly where the lobes join, never by a rim.
