rippled-clear-slab-and-silver-rock-resin-console-280cm
Rippled Clear Slab & Silver Rock Resin Console - 280cm

Description

A long slab of clear resin, rippled across its top like moving water, runs the length of this console. At one end it passes through a boulder finished in mirror-bright silver, which rises above the slab and drops below it to the floor; the far end rests on a clear acrylic leg, which is supplied with the console.

Water Passing Through a Silver Boulder

The slab is clear resin, cast with a rippled face that throws back light in moving bands from end to end. The boulder is fibreglass, modelled as a rough rock and plated to a mirror finish, so it throws back the room and the water above it in broken patches, and the slab is seated into it rather than resting on top. At the free end a plain upright slab of clear acrylic stands as the second support, so that end of the console seems to float. The plating and the acrylic are both polished, and the slab is levelled across its length before the two supports are set.

It is a console for a long hall or a gallery wall, where the silver boulder can be met first and the clear end left to read as open air. The boulder's mirror finish picks up everything around it, so it suits a room with something worth reflecting. Both supports need a level floor under them. Indoor use only.

The Boulder, the Clear Leg and Delivery

Build times separate standard from bespoke: 3–4 weeks against 5–6. Any length can be ordered, the boulder can be plated gold or left in a dark patina in place of the silver, and the slab can be frosted or tinted. The acrylic leg can be set further in from the end. Consoles ordered together are given boulders of matching character. Slab, boulder and leg are crated separately and the console is put together where it will stand, which takes four people. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A rippled slab passing through a silver boulder is why this console appears among our fibreglass sculptures; in a hall it fills a role among our art furniture, and the meeting of water and mirror suits our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Specification

Height

109.5cm

Width

280cm

Depth

88.5cm

Acrylic Floor Leg

5cm Thick

Material

Clear Cast Resin with a Silver-Plated Fibreglass Boulder
