This is the right-hand fish of a pair, made to hang facing the left-hand one, and the price here is for this one.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eA Fish Swimming Level Between Its Fins\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eHung level, a fish shows its whole length, so the line from mouth to tail has to read as one movement: the body is kept straight and the bend is put into the fins instead, which rise above and fall below it. Each fin sheet is combed with ridges that run unbroken from root to edge, and they are fixed at the root before being carried out, since a restarted ridge shows a break once light rakes across it. The scales are cut small and even over the body so it reads as one bright mass against the fins. The hanging points are set so the fish hangs level without adjustment.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt is made to hang, ideally with the left-hand fish facing it: over a stair well, across a double-height room, in a long window or at the end of a corridor. Light coming through the fins is what the red is for, so hang it against daylight; lit only from overhead it reads as a dark outline. Each fin is braced in its crate on a former cut to its shape, and the lines travel coiled in a separate pouch; carry the fish at its body, keeping hands off the fins.
