The stone is a coarse speckled grey with visible mineral flecking and a matte sawn finish that will not gloss up in rain. Two lotus-petal courses step the plinth out to a wide bed.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA freestanding screen is a divider, not a wall panel, so it belongs where it separates one part of a garden from another: across a courtyard, at the end of a lawn, beside a pool, along a terrace or as a backdrop to a seating area. The screen height and width are both open, and the plinth is included; it can be given a deeper moulding or cut as a plain block. The carved openings can be closed if you want a solid screen.
