The surface shifts through gold, violet and green as you move, with no one colour holding anywhere on it. A round white foot is included, and the teardrop sits on it at its fullest, lowest point.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eAn Iridescent Film Over a Body With No Colour\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eIridescence is not a colour and cannot be matched to one, which is the thing to settle before ordering: what the surface returns depends on where you stand and changes as you cross the room. Two pieces out of the same run will not present that sequence in the same order. An iridescent surface on a clear body is why the piece has no fixed colour: what returns to the eye depends on the angle, and the body underneath supplies none of its own. The whole surface carries the iridescent film, taken right up to the drawn point.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt wants a console or a shelf beside a door, somewhere it will be passed rather than stood in front of. Anything plain behind it will do, pale for preference, because the colour is the piece and the wall should not add to it. Use two sources. An iridescent surface lit from one point shows one colour and hides the rest. There is no place to stand that gives the whole of it at once, and each quarter turn puts a different edge forward.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eChoosing the Film, and What Arrives Under It\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhether it is standard or bespoke sets the build: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. On request the film is left off, the body is tinted instead, or the point is drawn longer. Leave the film off and the piece becomes a clear teardrop, which is the same drawing with none of the same behaviour. The film is chosen from samples before anything is cast. One crate with the base beneath it, and nothing to fix. One person, two hands on the body, and the drawn point left alone.
