Faint grey veining runs through the rim and the background field. The undercutting is deep at the club and the jug, and the whole surface is polished to satin.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA roundel wants a wall where it can be read as a circle on its own: a chimney breast, a stair half-landing, a garden wall panel or the end of a short corridor. Two roundels also work either side of a doorway. Keep rectangular frames away from it, since they make the circle look accidental rather than chosen.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eGetting a Roundel Level on the Wall\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eFive weeks, and the composition takes as long as the carving: two seated figures have to be arranged so their limbs echo the rim rather than being cropped by it.
