The threads gather where the folds cross, which is where the body is thickest, so the darkest part of the piece is also its heaviest and the two read as one fact. The threads sit at whatever depth the mass settled them at, which is what a clear casting can offer and no applied finish can. Polished over every face, and the threads are read at whatever depth they happen to sit.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA hall, a broad landing or a conservatory, standing on the floor with nothing set beside it. The threads are drawn finer or left out, the green is taken toward blue, and a block is supplied to stand it on. Leave the threads out and the green has to be deepened, because they were doing half the work of giving the body depth. Nothing to assemble: the column comes out of its crate and goes straight to the floor it is going to occupy. Two people at this height, taken by the two lowest folds.
