The disc has a flat underside and a dimpled upper face, and those dimples are shallow and irregular rather than patterned, which is why the top holds a broken reflection instead of a clean one. The bell foot is solid and reads almost black through its centre while its outer faces stay a clear bottle green. The green is strong and will hold its own against a coloured wall, which is unusual for a piece this size. The dimpled top is the reason to place it under a lamp or near a window, because raking light is what makes the dimples read; flat overhead light flattens them completely. The bell foot needs a level surface and a clear circle of floor. The dimpled top is the slow part. There are three decisions. The green is offered in other tints, the dimpling can be left off for a plain flat top, and the stem can be finished in brass or chrome instead of dark metal. The base profile is fixed. Top diameter and overall height are quoted to your own figures. Where two or more are wanted, the green depth in the bell is held the same across the group.
