What is cut back and what stands proud take the light differently, so the run is set to cross both rather than to follow either. A frosted surface on a graded body does something a polished one cannot: it gives back the colour at the point the light lands rather than throwing a highlight, so the run survives being worked over. Frosted across the worked face and left plain behind it, so the two sides of the rock are finished differently on purpose.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt belongs on a sideboard where the worked face can be squared to the room. A dark wall behind it, so the white crown has something to be pale against. Front light and a little from above. Lit from behind it goes to outline and the graduation is gone.
