green-and-clear-ribbed-scroll-resin-sculpture-148cm
Green & Clear Ribbed Scroll Resin Sculpture - 148cm

Description

A thick sheet of resin curled like a scroll: one side climbs into a high ribbed wall, and the other turns over on itself in a hooked crest, making a hollow between the two. Close ribs run over every surface and follow each turn. The crests are a vivid green and the body clears towards the foot.

A Ribbed Sheet Rolled Into a Scroll

The ribs are what make a scroll of this size read clearly: each one follows the sheet as it turns, so the curling movement is drawn across the whole surface. They are spaced closely enough to catch the light as a pattern and deep enough to throw small shadows, which gives the clear body texture without colour. The green is graded down the sheet rather than kept to one part: it is deepest at the crests and through the upper walls, runs on across the ribs of the hollow and clears to glass towards the foot, so the outline glows while the base reads as clear water. The foot is broad and settled, and there is no separate base.

Give it floor space in an entrance, a gallery or a spacious sitting room, with a clear path all round it and a view into its open side. Place it against a plain dark wall or a window, and let daylight fall across the ribs from one side. The green rims show best against white. It is broad, so give it room on every side.

Rim Colour, Ribs and Its Crate

Reckon on 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke one. The green can be exchanged for another colour, blue, amber or smoke, or the whole scroll left clear, and the ribs can be spaced more closely or opened out. Left clear, it is quieter and puts the ribs first. It is crated to its shape, moved upright on a trolley and set down on its broad foot, and it is never lifted by the hooked crest. Other sizes can be cast to order. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A thick ribbed sheet rolled into a scroll, green above and glassy at its foot, curls in among our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Specification

Height

130cm

Width

148cm

Depth

90cm

Material

Green-Tinted Cast Resin
