gold-guardian-lion-on-a-gold-flecked-column-resin-sculpture-151cm
Gold Guardian Lion on a Gold-Flecked Column Resin Sculpture - 151cm

Description

The guardian lion on this column is finished in solid gold, from the curls of its mane to its paws, and it sits front facing on a clear cap. Below, the clear square shaft has a fluted band at the top and gold leaf scattered down its whole length to the foot. The column is included with the lion.

A Gilded Lion Over a Clear Column

The gold on the lion is a full gilded finish, so the mane, the collar and the paws all read as metal against the clear resin of the column. The leaf in the shaft is scattered rather than packed, which keeps the column clear enough to frame the gold above it. The lion sits on a clear cap, so a band of clear resin divides the gold figure from the gold-flecked shaft. The fluted band marks the top of the shaft, and the arrises are kept crisp from the cap to the foot.

At 151cm the lion is lifted to about eye level, which suits an entrance hall, the foot of a staircase or either side of a doorway. A plain wall behind it makes the gold read hardest, and a light from above sets the lion glowing. The gold lion reads from across a room, so it can stand at the far end of a hall and still be seen.

The Gilded Lion, the Shaft and Delivery

Ours is a 3–4 week build as standard, and a 5–6 week build when the commission is bespoke. The lion can be gilded as here, left clear, or finished in silver, and the leaf in the column can be thinned, packed or left out. Copper or silver may be used in the shaft in place of gold, and the fluted capital can be deepened or left plain. Other column heights are made to order. A mirror-image lion is made to order for a pair. It is boxed in a single long crate; two people raise it into place. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A gilded guardian lion on a clear column belongs with our lion statues; a lion raised to eye level leads to our figurative sculptures, and a shaft scattered with leaf joins our resin sculptures.

Specification

Height

21cm

Width

12cm

Depth

15cm

Base

15.5 x 15.5 x 130cm

Material

Gilded Lion on a Clear Cast Resin Column with Gold Leaf

https://giant-sculptures.com/products/gold-guardian-lion-on-a-gold-flecked-column-resin-sculpture-151cm
