Green runs the whole ribbon, deepest where the turns overlap and palest where the edge catches. At the top the ribbon opens into a small flared mouth, the one place where the turns stop winding and spread.

What the Frost Does to a Green

Frosted, it does a third thing again, which is to look soft at a distance and hard in the hand. Frost puts the colour on the outside of the object instead of inside it, so where the clear spirals are read through, this one is read off, and it holds a room's light rather than passing it along. Frosting a green body makes the colour sit on the surface rather than in the depth, which is the reverse of what a polished casting does. Frosted over every face, so the piece is opaque at every angle without being matt.

A study, a bedroom or a wide shelf. This one suits a room rather than a hall. A pale wall behind, though a frosted body is less demanding about it than a clear one. The frost holds a lamp instead of letting it through, and the green comes up warm under anything tungsten. It reads as a green column from the door and the turns separate at about two paces.

Taking the Frost Off, and Delivery

It takes 3–4 weeks to make as standard, and 5–6 weeks to make bespoke. The frost is left off, the green is deepened, or the ribbon is wound through more turns. Take the frost off and the green has to be deepened, since a clear body shows far less colour than a frosted one at the same mix. One piece, one crate, and it is stood upright where it is going with nothing to assemble. One person can move it, taken around the lowest turn. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Frosted green ribbons winding up in close turns stand among our organic sculptures; the tinted casting belongs among our resin sculptures, and tall pieces for an entrance hall sit in our indoor sculptures.

Specification

Height

122cm

Width

53cm

Depth

31cm

Material

Frosted Green Cast Resin

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0869/3383/2027/files/Z121_e01bffca-a481-4963-89fe-8bee111f87d1.jpg?v=1791461043
