Three sets of concentric rings are worked into the upper face, each spreading from a small raised centre, and the surface between and around them is left dead level so the rings read as events on a still plane rather than as pattern. The slab is thick, which matters: at this section the rings are seen once on the surface and again through the mass from below, out of register with the first. The three legs are tapering round sections set in from the rim, as slim as the span allows, each ending in a small flat foot. One table is supplied. The droplet rings read from directly above, which is exactly where a standing user is, so the height and the relief were chosen together.
