Its crest breaks over at the top like a wave, the body bends through an S with one knee pressed forward, and the skirt swings wide at the foot. With no colour in the resin, the figure is drawn by reflections and highlights that slide over every fold as you move. Its black marble block comes with it.

A Figure Drawn in Reflections

Without a tint, the folds of this figure do all the work. Each curve of the skirt and the crest bends the view behind it, so the piece is full of small, shifting reflections, and the polish has to be flawless for those to stay crisp. Seen against a wall of books or a garden through a window, it becomes part of the view rather than an object in it. The dark stone underneath gives the eye a place to start. It suits a room that is already full of colour, since it adds none of its own.

Put it wherever the room behind it is interesting, on a shelf or a side table, since it borrows everything it shows. It fits any colour scheme and sits happily beside books, plants and glassware. Side light makes the edges sparkle; a lamp behind it at night fills the folds with a warm glow. It reads as a flicker of light from across the room.

Tinted, Frosted, or Marbled, and Delivery

Whether it is standard or bespoke sets the build: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. A tint of any colour can be added, the surface can be frosted, or black marbling can be drawn through it as it is on the original. The block is available in white marble. A deep blue version of the figure is sold separately. It arrives crated on its block; setting it down takes one person and no tools, with a hand on the block and the crest kept clear. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Colourless resin full of shifting reflections belongs with our resin sculptures; the breaking-wave crest suits our contemporary and modern sculptures, and more small pieces sit in our indoor sculptures.

Specification

Height

58cm

Width

36cm

Depth

18cm

Base

25 x 20 x 6cm

Material

Clear Cast Resin on Black Marble
