The gold flecks are placed at intervals through the pour and each one is held where it was put, which is the slow part of the build. The dished top is polished inside and out, and the rippled edge is worked back by hand until no point on it is sharp enough to catch. The pooled foot is finished flat underneath so the column stands true on a hard floor without rocking.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt 72cm this stands between side-table and bar height, which suits it to a hall, a window bay or the end of a run of seating. The pooled foot spreads wide, so allow for it against a skirting, and the flecks want a light source above them rather than behind.
