That is the whole of it: a column of discs all facing the same way would read as a machined part, and every one of these is a few degrees off its neighbour. Stacking discs in one body means no two of them meet on a flat face, and an uncoloured casting is what makes that legible: every meeting returns a line and there is nothing else to look at. Polished over every disc and the turned foot beneath them.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA narrow shelf or a bedside will take it. Somewhere it can be turned is better than somewhere it cannot. A dark wall behind it, or the column loses every edge it has. One source off to the side finds each disc in turn; flat light closes them into one shape. On request the disc count goes up, colour goes into the body, or a different stone goes beneath it. Add discs and the foot is widened to carry them, since the stack leans a little further with each one. How far the stack leans is fixed at the drawing. A small crate, and the stone travels under the column. One person can lift it, with a hand beneath the stone.
