Its faces are rough and glassy, broken into hollows, ripples and small facets, with silvery crazing in places. Crumpled, torn flakes in olive-khaki and smoky brown cluster near the crown, and a heavier scatter runs down the right flank towards the foot. It stands on a plain black base with square, upright sides, which is included.

Crumpled Olive Flakes Under a Hunched Crown

The flakes are irregular scraps rather than neat shapes, their edges torn and folded, and their colour shifts from a translucent olive-khaki, almost green where it catches the light, to a smoky tan-brown. Some sit just beneath the surface and others deep in the mass, which gives the clear body real depth as you move around it. A small notch opens at the foot, and the glassy faces pick up every highlight in the room. The black base is glossy on top, so the underside of the rock is mirrored in it, and its sides are plain and straight.

Compact and solid-looking from every angle, it is happy on a desk or beside an armchair on a side table, and it works just as well at one end of a long console, where visitors can walk round it and see the flakes from several sides. The black base gives it a firm line against pale walls or oak furniture, and a lamp above it brings out the olive in the flakes. Indoor use only.

One Hunched Rock on Black, Ready to Order

Ours is a 3–4 week build as standard, and a 5–6 week build when the commission is bespoke. What you buy is one rock on its black base, priced and sold on its own. Made to your brief, the flakes can be gathered more thickly or kept to a light scatter, metal leaf in a copper tone can replace them, and the black base can give way to timber or marble; any other size can be quoted as well. Rock and base are boxed together in a padded carton, and anyone lifting the rock should cradle it from below, never grip the crown. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Crumpled olive and smoky flakes inside a hunched clear rock on black bring a dense, earthy note to our resin sculptures, our abstract sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Specification

Height

35cm

Width

45.7cm

Depth

19cm

Base

55 × 30 × 6cm

Material

Imported Clear Resin with Olive and Smoky Brown Flakes on a Black Base

https://giant-sculptures.com/products/clear-smoky-olive-flake-hunched-rock-resin-sculpture-on-black-base-55cm
