The darkest ink settles where the mass is thickest, along the foot and in the spur, and it fades to grey as the form narrows towards the summit. Where two veins cross they darken into knots of black that read like shadowed gullies. That gradient gives the mountain weight at the bottom and air at the top, like a range seen through mist, and the polished surface keeps every vein behind a clear skin.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe ink gives it a graphic quality that reads well against a plain pale wall, where the black veins stand out sharply. A credenza, a console or the back of a sideboard suits it, set where it is met from the front. Even, soft light shows the ink best, while strong light from behind turns the clear parts bright and the ink almost black.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eHow Much Ink, and Delivery\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eAs standard the build runs 3–4 weeks, and as a bespoke commission 5–6. The ink can be heavier for a darker, stormier piece or lighter for a misty one, a coloured ink can replace the black, and gold leaf can be added among the veins. The surface can also be frosted, which softens the black into a charcoal drawing seen through frost. A foam-lined case holds it with the summit and the spur bedded side by side, light enough for one person to lift.
