The ripple is modelled into the mould face rather than worked in afterwards, so it carries over the edge and returns beneath the lip without a break. Every face is polished, the underside included, because a clear seat is read from below by anyone sitting beside it. The two steel blades are ground and brushed along their length, and both feet are faced flat and set to one plane, since a bench on two blades rocks on an error a four-legged one would absorb.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt suits a hall, a bedroom or a long landing, and the blades are set well in so both ends can be sat on without a foot to catch. The fish are the reason to have it, so it is best lit from overhead: light coming across the seat flattens the shoal into the slab. Choose three things when you order. The fish count and where they sit are settled at order, the slab is run clear of them where a plain bench is wanted, and the blades are offered blackened as well as brushed. The seat length and the seat height are whatever you specify. Order more than one together and the placing of the fish is matched across them. Crated with the slab ends and the two blade legs protected, it is a two-person lift.
