Two broad blades of polished stainless steel carry the panel, joined beneath it by a rail, and the carving shows through the clear block from the side.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eRings Carved as if Into Still Water\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eCarving rings into a clear panel means every cut is seen twice, once on the top and again through the depth of the block from the side, so each ring is cut to a shallow, even profile and polished until its edge is crisp. Where two sets overlap, the later rings are taken a little shallower so the earlier set still reads whole. The two straight channels near the ends are cut square and polished on every face, a contrast to the curves that frames the carving at each end.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA carved top is read from above, so give it a place where people look down on it: a hall, a gallery, a long room, or a bright spot by a window where the rings catch the light. The rings are shallow enough to sit on in comfort. On a hard floor the polished blades pick up its tone and recede, so the panel appears to float.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eRing Sets, the Channels and the Steel Base\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhether it is standard or bespoke sets the build: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. The number of ring sets and where they fall are open, and the channels can be left out for an all-over field of rings. Seat height is set at order. The panel is offered in other lengths and with a tint, and the blades in a brushed or coated finish. The panel and its base travel separately and are joined on site, and two people are wanted for the panel.
