The trunk and branches are polished clear, so they have the weight and gleam of ice, while the needles are frosted to a soft white that scatters light instead of reflecting it, the way snow does. Each burst of needles radiates from its branch tip in fine spikes, and there are enough of them to give the crown a silhouette from a distance without hiding the clear structure behind them.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA stairwell or a double-height hall gives it the space it needs, with room to walk beneath and around the crown. It suits a winter display, a hotel lobby or a restaurant, and above a long table in a dining room it is seen from every seat. The crown can be opened wider or drawn in closer to the trunk, and the needles left frosted white, tinted pale green or frosted in gold. The trunk can be cut straight for a cleaner top. Being wide and fine at the tips, it travels in a wooden crate with each branch braced, and it is hung on site by an installer who sets the crown level.
