The flakes are irregular rather than slender, crumpled at the edges like foil, and they glint olive and brass as the viewing angle changes. The base is a pale, blond timber with its grain and a few dark knots left showing, and its ends slope outwards to a broad foot. Seen from the end, the crag is slim, which keeps it from looking heavy despite its width.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIts climbing line suits a long console or a sideboard, with the high end turned towards a corner or a doorway so the eye travels up it. The pale timber is at home with light oak, limed finishes and linen colours, and a window beside it brings out the flakes as the light moves round the room. Metal leaf can replace the olive flakes, and the pale timber can give way to a darker wood or to marble. The crag ships in a padded crate with its base boxed apart, and it should be lifted from under the resin rather than at the summit.
