Pale lines thread the whole surface, and olive flakes with a brassy sheen gather mostly near the bottom, with one or two climbing higher. The base is included, and the rock is sold by itself.

Olive Flakes Below a Notched Peak

The resin is clear between a dense tracery of pale lines running in every direction, as though the body had been split and healed many times over. The flakes are broad and twisted, olive on one face and brassy where they turn, and they cluster towards the foot like scree under a cliff. The base is natural wood with knots, dark marks and fine checks left in it, and its sloping ends give it a sturdy, tapered profile. Each rock's arrangement of flakes is its own.

The rustic timber suits a room furnished in natural materials, and the rock sits comfortably on an oak sideboard, a broad console or a reception desk of stone or wood. Light from one side picks up the flakes low in the body and draws out the lines across the peak, while a plain wall keeps the outline clear. Indoor use only.

Flakes, Base Timber and the Journey

Once ordered, a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke one 5–6. Metal leaf can take over from the olive flakes, the base can be cut from a smoother timber, stained, or replaced with marble, and the size can be altered on commission. A bespoke design can begin from a drawing or a description. The rock is crated for delivery with its base wrapped beside it, and two people should lift it out together, holding the resin rather than the peak. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Olive flakes beneath a notched peak, on a base of knotty timber, give our resin sculptures a rugged piece; its broken skyline joins our abstract sculptures, and an oak sideboard is a natural stage for it among our indoor sculptures.

Specification

Height

45cm

Width

60cm

Depth

15cm

Base

65 × 15 × 7cm

Material

Clear Cast Resin with Olive Flakes on a Natural Wooden Base

https://giant-sculptures.com/products/clear-olive-flake-notched-summit-rock-resin-sculpture-on-wood-base-65cm
