A rounded spur sits apart at one side, its own flutes running into the main mass. Front to back it is slim, and it rests on the surface unmounted.

Flutes Fanning from One Summit

Every flute on this mountain begins at the summit and fans out as it falls, so the whole surface is organised around one point, the way real ridges spread from a peak. Each flute is a curved polished channel, and together they work like a set of lenses: light breaks along every ridge, and the few gold specks inside shift position as the viewer moves. The gold is kept sparse on purpose, so the fluting does the work and the leaf is an occasional spark rather than a pattern.

It wants its full width with nothing crowding its ends, since the fluting runs right out to the edges. Light from behind or from one side suits it best, filling the clear body and lighting each channel in turn. Raised to standing height on a sideboard, the flutes are met square on, which is how they are drawn to be seen.

Flute Depth, a Little Gold, and Delivery

Figure the difference between standard and bespoke at 3–4 weeks against 5–6. The fluting can be cut deeper or kept shallow, the gold can be left out entirely or laid in more densely, and the clear body can carry a tint. The surface can be frosted, which turns the lenses into soft, pale ridges. Delivery is in a padded crate, the crown sleeved and the spur held in foam, and it needs two people to lift it out from beneath. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A clear massif fluted from its summit belongs with our organic sculptures; deep polished channels place it in our resin sculptures, and a few specks of gold under moving light suit our indoor sculptures.

Specification

Height

45cm

Width

75cm

Depth

18cm

Material

Clear Cast Resin with Gold Leaf Flecks
